Welcome To Ems Valley Memorial Arboretum
Ems Valley Memorial Arboretum is a charitable trust which has been set up to create a memorial arboretum at Hampshire Farm Meadows in Emsworth. Its development and maintenance is enabled through charitable donations and the work of volunteers.
The arboretum aims to celebrate the life of loved ones by planting up to 250 trees over the next few years to establish a place of remembrance. Commemorative plaques will provide a tangible means of memorialising people with a link to Emsworth, Westbourne or the local area.
It is expected that the arboretum will provide beautiful scenery throughout the year, increase tree cover and improve the local environment for wildlife. We have produced a detailed report on the expected Ecological & Biodiversity impact of the arboretum. It will also provide educational opportunities, especially for children.
Tim Peake Plants The First Tree
Our Patron is the astronaut Major Timothy Peake CMG, who grew up in Westbourne. Tim Peake attended the ceremonial beginnings of the arboretum, and planted the first tree, a Blue Atlas Cedar.
You can read all about the tree planting ceremony, and also check out our photo galleries which showcase the occasion.
