On 28th of February The Friends of Hampshire Meadow held another useful, if muddy, work party up in the arboretum.
This time we concentrated on the quercetum (the area where all the oak trees are). It was their turn for a bit of tlc. This involved removing the tree guards so we could remove perennial weeds and grass and check their straps and posts, then put the guards back on as none of these are big enough yet to have them removed.
We will do "the avenue" next time. All the trees are in bud and hopefully will spring into life again soon. More of today's sunshine will help!
Below are a few pictures from the work session.
Many thanks to the Friends for their hard work helping to maintain the Arboretum meadow.
